Jets Over Kentucky planesLEBANON, KY – If you like airplanes and the rush of uninterrupted flying, travel down to the Heart of Kentucky for a week-long event showcasing the world’s largest remote control jet show.  If you haven’t attended this air show in previous years, you’re most definitely missing out.

The 9th annual Jets Over Kentucky will take place from July 7-13 at the Lebanon-Springfield Airport along KY-55 in Lebanon.  The main event will take place on Friday and Saturday after several days of trial runs and logistical practice.

While spectators are welcome to visit and watch the high-flying action throughout the week, a $5 fee will be charged for weekend attendees.  Children under 12 years of age will be admitted free of charge.  Gates will open on Friday and Saturday beginning at 8 o’clock in the morning.

According to VisitLebanonKY.com,On Friday evening at dark, there will be a unique Parade of Lights, where all of the jets turn on their lights and travel in parade formation down the tarmac.  Immediately following the parade will be an hour-long fireworks display.  According to Lewis Patton, the event organizer and factory representative for Jet Central, they were told by several spectators in 2011 that the Jets Over Kentucky fireworks show ‘was larger than the city of Lexington’s on the Fourth of July.’  Patton assures attendees that this year’s display will match last year’s in every way.”

Over 200 pilots are expected to attend and give a good show for spectators.  In previous years, pilots have descended on Lebanon from Asia and across Europe including Germany, Spain and Iceland.  In addition to returning pilots, event organizers are expecting a large contingency from Canada and Mexico for this year’s show.
